About Me
My inspiration for my designs can come from a piece of clothing or a vision of how someone would look in a combination of colors. Sometimes, I just look through all of the little drawers of beads to find unexpected color and shape combinations. I am also obviously inspired by Egyptian jewelry. I hope that you will find a piece that calls to you. If you have a particular color combination you would like to see, please email me. I can add extensions to most necklaces if you want increased length.
The beads are hand knotted on Silkon cord, a synthetic that doesn't stretch and is very durable. There are numerous knots that you can't see that balance the beads and provide additional support. The vermeil beads are sterling silver with a 24 carat gem plate. Most of those beads were hand made in Bali.
I began this project in the late 80's. At that time it was difficult to find buyers because my jewelry was judged either too ethnic or not ethnic enough. My greatest success at the time was a gallery on the Rue du Fauberg St. Honore in Paris next to Hotel Le Bristol where my creations achieved multiple repeat orders. Then, due to life changes, the gallery closed, I lost my studio in San Francisco and my home. The beads were packed up for years until now. I'm really enjoying my creativity again.
